Devin Fuller was the team's seventh round pick this year, but thanks to injury, he's barely been on the practice field for the Falcons thus far.
Quinn said that team is being extra cautious with Devin Fuller (hamstring) but expects Fuller to be fully ready for training camp— vaughn mcclure (@vxmcclure23) June 15, 2016
The good news is that Fuller will be systems go for training camp, where he'll get a longer look from the coaching staff and have a chance to make his case. The problem, of course, is that Fuller hasn't had the chance to make that case this entire time, while receivers like Aldrick Robinson and David Glidden have gotten the chance to show off for the coaching staff, and everyone from Tevin Coleman to Eric Weems has fielded kicks and punts for Atlanta. That means Fuller may be coming back to more of an uphill battle than anticipated.
That's particularly true when you consider that Fuller probably will make it on to the team's practice squad without much difficulty, and that there are so many guys ahead of him at receiver and so many options to return kicks and punts, even if they're not all great ones. All it would take is Devin Hester returning healthy or a guy like Glidden proving he could handle returns and Fuller could be ticketed for a learning year, even though his speed and ability obviously make him an intriguing player over the long haul.
It'll be worth watching how Fuller fares when he returns. Do you have him making the roster?
