The #1 goal for the Falcons, in the short and long terms, is to win a bunch of Super Bowls. The #2 goal might as well be dragging their all-time record up to .500 or better.
The Falcons come into the 2016 with a largely dismal history, as we're all aware, but I hadn't taken a look at the franchise's record for a few years. They currently sit at 330-432-6, slightly worse than the Saints and "good" for the fourth-worst winning percentage of all time. Thankfully, the Buccaneers have the absolute worst, at 241-386-1.
If you ever find yourself wondering aloud why the Falcons never seem to get any respect, remember that they've been a punchline of a franchise for so very, very long that old habits die hard, and they've been a .500 team or worse the last three seasons. With any luck, Dan Quinn and company will get this thing pointed in the right direction, but it's going to take a title (and probably a lot more) before we forget the long and sordid history that brought us here.
