Falcons' 2016 strength of schedule is league's 'toughest'

Atlanta faces a tough road to the playoffs in 2016.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Before the 2015 season began, the Atlanta Falcons had the league's "easiest" strength of schedule. At season's end, however, it turned out the Falcons didn't just have an easy schedule. Instead, they had a schedule so easy it may not be replicated again, ever.

Now, after bumbling to an 8-8 record, Atlanta's on the opposite side of the strength of schedule spectrum this upcoming season.

In 2016, the Falcons are tied with the San Francisco 49ers for the league's "toughest" strength of schedule. Six of Atlanta's opponents for the upcoming season made the playoffs the previous year: the Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Seattle Seahawks.

And, with the Rams now being in Los Angeles, the Falcons will make a total of four trips to the West Coast.

We'll see how the schedule shakes out once it's released today at 8 p.m., and of course teams can change from year to to year.

As it stands now, how confident are you in Atlanta's chances of making the playoffs in 2016?
