Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn presents as a hard nosed, determined guy. What's sometimes forgotten is just how smart he is. Quinn was at the owners meetings this week. Today he addressed the media and made an interesting scheduling-related comment.
Quinn said the Falcons did put in the request to have consecutive games traveling west next season with L.A., Oakland, Seattle, Denver.

At this point we know that the Falcons will spend a considerable amount of time on the west coast in 2016. We don't know when that will be, just that it's a hump they'll need to get over. With what is widely considered one of the hardest if not the hardest slate in the NFL next season, Quinn has to be strategic about his approach. That's why he's making this request. If you're going to have to travel to the west coast and get your team adjusted to a different time zone, then you might as well knock out those games consecutively. In other words, put it behind you. There's certainly something to be said about spreading them out as well, but Quinn knows his team, and this is what he wants.
