The NFL uses a pretty arcane formula to come up with compensatory picks, but if you know what you're looking for, it's reasonably easy to figure out whether your favorite football team is going to get any extra picks in a given year. As predicted in 2016, the Falcons received zero, as they signed more free agents than they lost the previous offseason.
To no one’s surprise, #Falcons got no compensatory picks: https://t.co/fpUP7T4R3p

The extra picks would have been useful in a year where Atlanta has just five selections, but we'll have to dry our tears and roll on without them. We'll hope that sometime in the near future, the Falcons will start getting those extra selections, nailing every pick in their draft classes, and winning multiple Super Bowls in a row. You know, reasonable stuff.
