Matt Ryan is having the best season of his career, without a doubt, and he just set yet another milestone against the hated Panthers.

With a 26 yard touchdown pass to Josh Perkins on the game’s opening drive, Ryan threw his 33rd such pass of the season. That’s a Falcons franchise record—it breaks his own mark—and obviously a personal best for Ryan. Chances are good that he’ll wind up surpassing that record by another 3-5 scores between now and the end of Week 17’s Saints game.

Ryan is also burnishing a strong MVP case with his play this season, and should finish with career best marks across the board if he maintains his current pace through the next game and three quarters.

There’s little point in quibbling: Matt Ryan is the best quarterback in Falcons history, and he’s only going to build on that resume going forward, Football Gods willing. Congratulations to Matty Ice for another slice of history here in 2016.
