The Pro Bowl is, in so many ways, a meaningless spectacle. In recent years, as almost everyone who earns a spot ultimately drops out to make way for alternates, it has become even more meaningless.
Still, when you consider a player’s legacy, you consider Pro Bowls, for better or for worse. And it’s still an honor to be mentioned among the best players in the league, regardless of whether you actually end up playing in the game or not.
I fully anticipate there will be a handful of Falcons (or more) representing the team early next year, both because the team has a winning record and because the offense has been so good it has garnered national attention. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are probably virtual locks, while Vic Beasley should be in on defense, given that he’s leading the NFL in sacks. We’ll have to see who else sneaks in, but I’d throw out names like Devonta Freeman, Alex Mack, Jake Matthews, Taylor Gabriel and even Deion Jones, if I were a betting man.
Here’s the info for tonight’s unveiling show. We’ll have the Falcons’ representatives on the site as soon as they’re available.
