With the Falcons at 9-5 and boasting the league’s most electric offense, it’s no great surprise that they’re better represented in the Pro Bowl than in years past. After tonight’s unveiling of rosters, we know exactly how many Falcons are in the 2017 Pro Bowl.
Congrats to M. Ryan, J. Jones, V. Beasley, M. Bryant, A. Mack and D. Freeman for being selected to the #ProBowl!#RiseUp pic.twitter.com/18Nksb8WhJ— Atlanta Falcons (@AtlantaFalcons) December 21, 2016
In total, six Atlanta Falcons will represent the team in Orlando this year. Here’s the full (and deserving) list:
QB Matt Ryan
RB Devonta Freeman
WR Julio Jones
C Alex Mack
DE Vic Beasley
K Matt Bryant
Beasley is here for the first time in just his second season, thanks to his league-leading 14.5 sacks and (approximately) million forced fumbles. He has been a bright spot on a consistently mediocre defense, and the scary part is that I don’t think he’s reached his considerable upside just yet.
The others are veterans. Ryan is here for the fourth time, having previously gone in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Julio has been to the Pro Bowl three times previously, as well, in 2012, 2014, and 2015. Alex Mack, who has been a linchpin for this offensive line, will be in for the fourth time, too.
Devonta Freeman is going to his second straight, well-deserved football. Matt Bryant will be going to his first Pro Bowl, which is an injustice that has finally been rectified.
