The Atlanta Falcons black jerseys return tomorrow against the 49ers

For the second time in 2016, the Falcons get black jerseys, and the fanbase rejoices.

The quest for black jerseys had become somewhat of a running gag in the Falcons fanbase, and it seemed unlikely we’d see them anytime soon. Atlanta threw us a major curveball by rolling those jerseys back out for the 2016 season. They are, of course, beautiful.

The good news, in case you’ve forgotten, is that the Falcons are breaking them out again tomorrow against the 49ers. The jerseys are kind of a nostalgic throwback to the old logo and 90’s-early 2000’s Falcons teams, which were A) awesome teams and B) well-dressed, and I’m hopeful this is a pilot program for a wholesale switch, however outlandish that might be. A new stadium in 2017 means it would be the perfect year to also switch the uniforms, if Arthur Blank and company were so inclined.

The last time, unfortunately, the Falcons dropped their home game against the Chargers. Hopefully the result this time is a win, so people don’t get any crazy idea about these wonderful jerseys being cursed.
