Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said Monday that cornerback Desmond Trufant was pursuing a second opinion for the shoulder injury he suffered against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. Tevin Coleman has been out with a hamstring injury. On Wednesday, Quinn confirmed on a radio appearance on 92.9 the Game that both Trufant and Coleman are considered day-to-day.
That’s an improvement, and Trufant’s status is a particular relief given the fact that second opinions often result in season-ending surgeries.
In other good news, the Falcons said Dwight Freeney has improved and is expected to be active this week. Don’t be surprised if Freeney does not practice today, as Wednesday is a standard day off for him regardless of his injury status.
There is some bad news on the injury report. Tight end Jacob Tamme, who injured his shoulder in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers, is unlikely to be available for this week.
