We knew ahead of time that the Falcons beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Like smashed them. Embarrassed them on national television so bad their defensive coordinator is on the hot seat (rumors say his defense is too hard to pickup, which is shocking to me). Tampa fans went from predicting a big win over Atlanta to looking forward to the draft. Their season is over. Just a terrible team.
Anyways, here's our updated NFC South standings.
1 | Atlanta Falcons | 6 | 3 |
2 | New Orleans Saints | 4 | 4 |
3 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 3 | 5 |
4 | Carolina Panthers | 3 | 5 |
The Panthers and Bucs need a magical turnaround for and a little help to sneak into a wildcard berth. The Bucs have one of the highest point differentials in the NFL, after the 49ers, Jets, Browns, and Jaguars. Injuries are piling up and coaching is collapsing. Carolina barely put up a fight against the Los Angeles Rams, and they look far from last year's intimidating dabbers.
The Saints had a good win but are still playing catchup. I'm not sure if their offense is good enough to contend with Atlanta's easy remaining schedule. It's a pretty safe lead but anything can happen in the NFL.
