The weekend wound up being a little bleak for Falcons fans, given that most of the teams they’re worried about in the playoff hunt won, as did the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That’s why we needed some good news, and by golly, we just got some.

The Falcons sorely missed Desmond Trufant against the Eagles (even though their receivers are lousy), and getting him back against Arizona would ensure the secondary was at full strength against a shaky Cardinals passing attack. You want your best defensive player on the field, which I know is a hot take, so we’ll watch Trufant’s status carefully the rest of the week and hope he suits up.
I fully expect Tevin Coleman to be back after a few weeks off, and this is a good early sign that he’ll make his return. He adds tremendous speed to the ground assault and is a dangerous weapon for Matt Ryan through the air, so getting him back would restore a missing element to this Falcons offense.
I’m already optimistic about this team’s chances this week, and having Trufant and Coleman back would make me even more enthusiastic. Trufant’s more of a shaky proposition than Coleman, given the uncertainty around his injury, but we’ll keep you updated throughout the week. Fingers crossed.
