Falcons practice report: Devonta Freeman back to full participation

It’s good news for a team that has Stevan Ridley and Terron Ward as the only other healthy options on the roster.

There’s some good news on the Falcons’ injury front, as Devonta Freeman returned to full participation in practice on Thursday. This suggests that, barring a setback, Freeman should be a full go for Sunday, and the Falcons really need him to be.

Tevin Coleman remained out, and it’s very unlikely he’ll play Sunday. The Falcons have only carried two running backs most of the year thus far, and that’s all they really needed with Coleman and Freeman eating on a weekly basis. Now Freeman will be backed up by Terron Ward, the second year UDFA who has considerable familiarity with the offense, and Stevan Ridley, who was signed off the street and will likely need a little time to get up to speed. Our best guess is that Coleman will be out until the bye, at the very least.

Otherwise, the Falcons should be pretty healthy against the Packers. We’ll just have to hope the loss of Coleman doesn’t sting too much, and that Freeman has one of those monster games he seems to put together when the Falcons need him most.
