Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan's comeback following a mediocre 2015 has been nothing short of impressive. He's played well enough to garner legitimate MVP consideration. (Granted, it's only week 8 and there's still a lot of football to play.) And now, as all the critics calling for his head during the offseason crawl back into the holes from whence they came, Ryan looks ahead.
This weekend Ryan will face the perennially dangerous Green Bay Packers. The Packers are led by future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback in the league. I like Ryan. (He's my QB1 and I'll be sad as youknowwhat when he isn't anymore.) That said, let's be honest, he's not at Rodgers' level. But Rodgers had nothing but positive things to say about Ryan today. (Credit to The Mothership's Andrew Hirsh for the quote.)
"I think he's one of the good guys. I think he's one of the elite guys as well. He's had a great year playing excellent, making great throws. He and Julio have a great connection, but he's been getting the other guys involved as well. Two good backs who can stretch the field in the run game and the passing game, and it's fun to see Matt doing well. I look forward to seeing him."
Rodgers was actually quite complimentary when talking about the Falcons today. It's nice to see an opponent taking you seriously.
