Arguably the two biggest mismatches of the Divisional Round are lined up for today, with the evil and effective Patriots taking on the plucky Chiefs, while the weirdly average Packers face a Cardinals team that looks like a legitimate juggernaut.
Of course, that's why they play the games. I anticipate these games will be closer than they look on paper, and certainly hope they will be for the viewing public. Let's dive in.
Schedule
AFC Divisional Round: New England Patriots vs. Kansas City Chiefs, 4:35 p.m., CBS
NFC Divisional Round: Arizona Cardinals vs. Green Bay Packers, 8:15 p.m., NBC
Odds
Patriots (-5) vs. Chiefs
Cardinals (-7) vs. Packers
Picks
Going with the favorites in both games. I expect the Chiefs to give the Patriots a pretty good battle, but New England is too well-coached and talented to lose this one at home. Let's say 31-27.
The Packers game makes me a little more nervous, because we've seen the Packers flounder their way into the playoffs and suddenly get hot before, and the Cardinals' defense is legitimately banged up. I've still got Arizona in this one, 27-17.
