It turns out that LB Brooks Reed will remain on the active roster, after previous reports that he would be sent to short-term injured reserve. Per the Atlanta Falcons official twitter account.
LB Brooks Reed will not be placed on injured reserve, short-term or otherwise, following groin surgery. He remains on the active roster.

This is an odd turn of events. Is this good news or bad news? Maybe Reed is expected to return sooner rather than later. Or maybe the team wants to use the short-term injured reserve spot for another player.
It hopefully means that Reed has a shot at playing in the first half of the season.
