Only three games into the year and we are talking about playoffs. The number crunchers at numberFire updated their NFL team power rankings this week, along with the playoff percentage of each team.
The Falcons are their fifth most likely team to make the playoffs. Dan Quinn needed just three games to earn an impressive 87.1% chance of making the playoffs.
numberFire has some other interesting calculations. They give the Panthers the edge on winning the division, and give Atlanta a 3.7% chance of making the Super Bowl. After two losing seasons, I will gladly take 3.7% of making the Super Bowl.
Their power rankings have the Falcons as the 11th best team in the NFL, with Atlanta jumping up seven spots from last week.
The Falcons have a nice chance to continue improving during the next two weeks. The team plays at home against two struggling teams: the Houston Texans and Washington Redskins. If Dan Quinn can keep the wins coming, the team's playoff chances should continue to improve.
