Falcons Uniform History: #48 makes us think the late 40's are just lousy numbers

Here we are, again, with some lackluster choices.

The late 40's have been some of the worst numbers we've trotted out for these Atlanta Falcons, thus far, and #48 does not disappoint in that regard. It just disappoints in every other.

The best player to wear the uniform was Woody Thompson, who started 13 games over three seasons, rushed for 877 yards and scored a single rushing touchdown, averaging 3.6 yards per carry. He also caught 42 passes for 259 yards and fumbled ten times. Tight end A.J. Simmons was the only Falcon to wear it in the last five years, and he never played a snap for this team. No other player on the list has done even what Thompson managed during his three 70's seasons, so here we are.

The good news is that we'll be out of the 40's soon, and the 50's have several players who are either franchise icons or close to it. We'll get through this together.
