Disturbing news has come out this afternoon regarding linebacker Prince Shembo. While these are merely unproven allegations at this time, Shembo has been arrested for killing his ex-girlfriend's small dog.

Per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, his ex-girlfriend brought a small yorkie to Shembo's apartment. The ex-girlfriend left, only to return to find her dog "unresponsive." The dog was brought to an animal hospital, where it quickly died.

The specifics are terrible, especially if they are proven true.

The following day, Shembo allegedly made comments to Williams about killing the dog, and she broke up with him, she told police.

A necropsy was conducted at Gwinnett County Animal Shelter, and tissues samples were sent to the University of Georgia for further testing, according to police.

[The dog] had significant internal injuries and the cause of death was blunt force trauma, veterinarians determined. The dog had a fractured rib, fractured liver, abdominal hemorrhage, thoracic hemorrhage, extensive bruising and hemorrhage in the muscles in her front leg and shoulders, head trauma, hemorrhage and edema in lungs, hemorrhage between the esophagus and trachea, and hemorrhage in the left eye with internal injuries, police said.

The police report covering the incident can be found here.

Regrettably, this is only the second most terrible allegation lodged against Shembo. While in college, he was accused of sexual assault, where the victim later committed suicide.

This looks to be another sign that Shembo should not be playing for the Atlanta Falcons, and likely will not for long.
