The Atlanta Falcons used to have cool uniforms. The 1990s black throwback jerseys were amazing, as was the red on red jersey/helmet combo. Those were intimidating uniforms, digs that made the Falcons look far better than they were. Ah, the good old days.
ESPN's Paul Lukas released his NFL jersey power rankings today, and [spoiler alert] the Falcons didn't do too well. Only the Buccaneers, Cardinals, Bengals, and Jaguars (in that order) rank lower than the Falcons. Admittedly this is just one guy's opinion, but let's be honest, he has a point.
Man, those sleeve stripes -- it's like something a clown would wear at the circus. The reverse-tapered pants piping doesn't help, either. Matt Ryan deserves better, wouldn't you say? Back to the drawing board.
This is what it is. I'm not sure what it'd take for the Falcons to reconsider their uniforms. At best, they reconsider the uniforms in time for the opening of the new stadium. It'd be a logical time to make some changes. My preference? A modern twist on their old school uniforms.
