Upon arriving at Flowery Branch, new head coach Dan Quinn made it a point to emphasize that he wanted players to have their best offseason ever going into the 2015 season. Whether that was losing weight, getting stronger or working on some other area, Quinn wanted every player to commit themselves to dramatic improvement - with the input of the coaches as a driving factor.
Per D. Orlando Ledbetter at the AJC, no player is exemplifying that more than middle linebacker Paul Worrilow.
"Paul Worrilow at inside linebacker is having a terrific offseason," Quinn said. "I challenged the guys to have the best offseason that they’ve ever had. He is literally having that. I’d be hard-pressed to find a guy who’s going for it harder than Paul."
While other players like Rashede Hageman and Lamar Holmes have impressed with significant weight loss this offseason, Worrilow appears to be standing out due to his work at not only getting stronger, but at becoming more flexible as well. That shouldn't come as a surprise though, as the young linebacker is known for his work-ethic in the offseason.
Many fans have been critical of Worrilow and his play, with many hoping the Falcons would find a replacement for him in the draft this year. However, it's clear that Worrilow is not only a hard worker, but he's gotten the attention of players and coaches alike. As a second year player, he was made a team captain by his peers and his work-ethic has already garnered the praise of his new coaches. Whether that translates to the field is another matter, but it won't be for a lack of trying.
What do you think of Coach Quinn's praise of Worrilow?
