In 2013, the Atlanta Falcons drafted defensive end Stansly Maponga in the fifth round. After playing just barely above 200 snaps in his first, and notching one sack in the 2014 blow out of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Falcons slid him to the practice squad.
Not anymore. The Giants have signed him to their active roster.
The Giants signed DE Stansly Maponga off the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad to replace DE Damontre Moore on their roster.

That makes two coaching staffs that did not really see the point in giving him meaningful, if any, defensive snaps. Maponga makes up the back end of an uneven 2013 draft class. After Desmond Trufant and Robert Alford, the Falcons selected Malliciah Goodman, Levine Toilolo, Kemal Ishmael, Zeke Motta, and Sean Renfree.
The Falcons will likely look for another developmental player to take that last practice squad spot early in the week.
