ESPN's Vaughn McClure reported this evening that the Falcons held a players' only meeting on the heels of their four-game losing streak. Frustrations have mounted over the past few weeks as a team that began the season 5-0 has just disintegrated into ineffectiveness over the past several weeks without any evidence that suggests they're going to be able to get back on track.
McClure noted that first-year head coach Dan Quinn was notified of the players-only meeting beforehand, and McClure also said that Quinn likely would see the meeting as a positive rather than a negative aspect. Quinn has always emphasized the connection between teammates as fundamentally important to the team's success, and if I had to guess, I'd say that he sees this meeting as an opportunity for the team to be galvanized by the adversity they've faced.
The Falcons really have to win on Sunday against the Bucs to stay firmly in the playoff hunt, and the offense has been abysmal. Here's hoping the players were able to work toward some solutions in this meeting.
I'll be on hand for Quinn's press conference tomorrow at 12:05 p.m., so look for updates. This players-only meeting will certainly be a hot topic of conversation.
What do you think about the players-only meeting? Will it help? Is it detrimental?
