Falcons odds: Atlanta favored to run record to 5-0 this weekend versus Washington

For the third straight week, Atlanta's coming in favored over their opponent. Let's hope the team keeps the good times rolling.

We're back with another edition of "Are the Atlanta Falcons favored this week?" The answer, we're proud to announce, is yes.

The Falcons opened the week as nine point favorites, which has since slipped down every so slightly into the 7.5-8 point range, depending on where you turn. The point total of 47.5 is the week's third-highest projected total, meaning Vegas sees another high-scoring contest here, either because Atlanta and Washington both put a ton of points on the board, or because Atlanta stomps Washington and the latter gets a ton of garbage time points. SB Nation has your complete odds for the game right here.

Ultimately, this is a bigger projected win than I would have thought, but it's hard to argue with the logic. The Falcons just eviscerated the Texans at home, and while the 2-2 Redskins are probably a more worthy opponent, they still have to come to the Georgia Dome, and they don't exactly have an elite squad. Washington could give the Falcons trouble, certainly, but I'm comfortable projecting a win.

Stay tuned for more in-depth looks at this week's opponents, and more on why the Falcons being favored is very reasonable.
