Jake Matthews Probable For Thursday Night Football, Roddy White Questionable

The Falcons will be mostly healthy against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though Roddy White remains a question mark.

Good news and somewhat bad news follows, friends.

That's the good news. I will gladly eat my doubtful words about Matthews, because I was convinced he wouldn't be back from his ankle injury so quickly and that the team was just trying to gain a competitive edge. If he can go, the Falcons' line is likely stronger, and given that the Buccaneers are bringing a depleted front seven to bear Thursday night, that helps immensely. Matthews is going to be a good-to-great tackle in this league before long, and I'd like to see it happening in earnest tomorrow.

Shembo will continue to rotate with Joplo Bartu, and could have the starting job to himself within a couple of weeks. Julio Jones will destroy the Buccaneers, with any luck.

The bad news is that Roddy White is listed as questionable, and no one's sure just how questionable he is. Dealing with a hamstring injury, White figures to be something approaching a game time decision, and if he can't go, the Falcons will be incorporating the running backs and Levine Toilolo into the passing offense more to make up for his loss. Hopefully, Roddy's just resting up and will be ready to go, and Mike Smith alluded to that outcome. Let's hope he's not just spitballing.
