The Falcons have made a couple of obvious yet intelligent moves this morning, locking up punter Matt Bosher to a long-term extension and signing reliable long snapper Josh Harris, as well.

That deal is more or less in line with what other quality punters are getting around the NFL, and it ensures the soon-to-be 27-year-old will be a Falcon for a long while yet. Bosher's deal was set to expire at the end of the year, and as crazy as this sounds given that punter is considered a relatively fungible position, the Falcons clearly didn't want to let him get to the end of the deal.
We outlined why this offseason, but suffice to say Bosher is one of the better punters in the NFL. He's 11th in average yardage per punt, 14th in net yardage and has a pair of touchbacks and a pair of punts dropped inside the 20 yard line thus far in 2014, and I fully expect him to be within the top ten when all is said and done. On top of that, Bosher's a good athlete who serves as a willing and capable special teams tackler, a valuable trait in a league where most punters strive to look busy getting out of the way.
And, of course, we're obligated to show you Matt Bosher destroying some Jets to illustrate that point.
We're glad to see Bosher and Harris locked up for the long haul. How about you?
