Final Atlanta Falcons 53 Man Roster Projection

It's time for that most august project, the 53 man roster, for the final time this offseason. The team just wrapped up its last game against the Jaguars a little after 9 p.m. last night, and now the coaching staff and front office will review the roster and purge the team's most unproductive elements.

It's a rough time of year for players being cut, but ultimately we hope for the strongest possible 53 man roster, one that gives the Falcons a terrific offense, a fairly strong defense and a quality special teams unit that allows for a major rebound from the dismal 2013 season.

This team's strengths are obviously at QB, WR, CB, and potentially special teams. The glaring weaknesses are at TE, LB and, in a more general sense, the pass rush. Whether the team can overcome those through judicious post-cuts signings or growth from what they have on the roster remains to be seen, but I'm bullish on this team being competitive at a minimum with this roster.

One final note: Aside from shuffling the OLB portion of the roster, this has not changed at all since a week ago. I truly believe nobody played themselves off the roster who wouldn't have already been off, and I don't anticipate too many major surprises with these cuts. Let us know if you disagree.
