Julio Jones has an almost mythical quality about him. He's like Bigfoot, just less human. And that's to be expected anytime someone has Jones' draft pedigree. After all, the Falcons gave up more picks to get Jones than a lot of teams have at their disposal in an entire draft.
But what's really cool is the respect he's getting league-wide. For a team that doesn't get much praise in the media, Jones is akin to a Falcons ambassador. So when Thursday Night Football announced that they will feature Jones on their "Under the Lights" special in September, I couldn't help but get giddy.
"Under the Lights" is a special that will air September 10th at 10 PM Eastern on CBS and then again on September 16th at 10 PM Eastern on NFL Network. It will basically cover two things. First, it will preview the Thursday Night Football lineup. That's sixteen games, if you're counting. Second, it will highlight the best primetime moments in NFL history. Pretty neat, eh?
Jones won't be the only superstar or celebrity featured. He will join Mark Harmon, Tom Selleck, LL Cool J, Billy Gardell, Jerry Rice, Andrew Luck, Jadeveon Clowney, Ben Roethlisberger, and Earl Cambell. They will all talk about their favorite primetime football moments, and everybody's favorite announcer, Jim Nance, will narrate. Should be a good show, so mark your calendars, folks!
