Sean Weatherspoon Officially Hits Injured Reserve

The linebacker's season is over, and the Falcons have an open roster spot.

This is a housekeeping note more than anything, because we already knew Sean Weatherspoon would miss the 2014 season. It's still a painful moment for the team and 'Spoon.

The move leaves one open spot on the team's 90 man roster, a spot they could fill with Brandon Flowers, a veteran linebacker or a significantly less impactful camp body. Either way, I anticipate the Falcons making a move in the next couple of days, so stay tuned for that.

'Spoon, meanwhile, heads into the 2015 season facing free agency, a long rehabilitation process and no idea of whether he'll return to Atlanta or not. It's a blow to the team's linebacker corps, but it's a much bigger blow to 'Spoon, who now officially carries the injury prone label with him.

We wish 'Spoon a swift recovery. Your thoughts?
