The Atlanta Falcons are going to have a busy day, apparently. They just signed rookie safety Dezmen Southward, completing their 2014 draft class, and inked a kicker.
The Falcons have their complete 2014 Rookie Club under contract as the team has signed third-rounder Dezmen Southward today #RiseUp

The Falcons have also signed kicker Sergio Castillo today. #RiseUp

We can finally stop worrying about Southward's contract. He's been present for offseason workouts and thus isn't really behind the curve, but with contract in hand, he can begin competing with Dwight Lowery in earnest. The former Wisconsin safety is a bit of a project, but with quality athleticism and a clear path to a starting job in 2015, if not sooner. Glad to have the whole class signed so we can move along.
Sergio Castillo was 21/25 as a PK in college. Had a long of 55 yards as a senior. Was 12/12 under 30 yds. Was 4/7 30-39, 8/11 from 40+

Castillo, a UDFA from West Texas A&M, has a strong leg and real promise, but probably isn't more than a camp leg for these Falcons. If he really impresses, he might be in the running to replace Matt Bryant in 2015, but I doubt this signing represents more than that slim possibility.
