Falcons defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux is generous with his time and resources off the field, committing his time and talents to benefiting others in the community in various ways. Now Babs is teaming up with former Falcons and Bears defensive end Chauncey Davis and former tight end Daniel Wilcox, who played for the Jets, Buccaneers, and Ravens, to offer Atlanta-area high school football players the opportunity to showcase their talents for college scouts in a 7 on 7 tournament this Friday, June 13th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grady High School in Midtown.
The 7 on 7 tournament is exactly what it sounds like--seven offensive players versus seven defensive players from Atlanta metro area high schools. Babineaux, Davis and Wilcox will also work with the high school players on skill development and technique. The tournament is sponsored by DTLR, an urban fashion retailer based out of Baltimore, Maryland, as part of their community outreach initiative. This will be the seventh year that DTLR has offered an opportunity like this in the greater Atlanta metro area, due largely to the solid and consistent response these events get from the community. The camp is free to participants, and cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place teams.
Last year's 7 on 7 tournament MVP was linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams, who received a scholarship from the University of South Carolina. This is a great opportunity for high school players to get some instruction from NFL players and showcase their talents for recruiters.
