Falcons To Hold Joint Practices With Texans

An annual tradition, but with a different team.

Bob Levey

You can't conceive of two teams with more closely intertwined 2013 fates than the Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons, both strong 2012 playoff teams who fell apart completely last season. While their paths have diverged from there, the teams crossed paths again leading up to the draft during negotiations for the top pick.

Now they'll do so once more. The two teams play one another this preseason, and the Texans and Falcons will practice together during the week leading up to that August 16 8 p.m. game. The Falcons have made a habit of this in recent years, and the streak won't be broken:

This should be a good opportunity to see how the team's new-look offensive line holds up against J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney, while the defense will get a crack at the Houston's four-headed hydra of mediocrity at quarterback. Should be a fun time for all involved.
