Expect Falcons Rookie Negotiations To Pick Up Next Week

Per D. Orlando Ledbetter, the Falcons should start signing rookies in the near future.

By now you've likely noticed the stream of reports regarding other teams signing their rookies, with the Chicago Bears actually inking their entire 2014 class. You may want to see some Falcons signings, but it appears you'll need to wait until next week.

Why? Well, I don't exactly know the answer to that, but D. Orlando Ledbetter at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution came away from Friday's rookie mini-camp with the impression that negotiations are just around the corner. So long as there are no holdouts, I'm certainly not going to sweat it if other teams beat the Falcons to the punch on a few signings.

Under the new collective bargaining agreement, negotiations simply don't take as long because there's not much in the way of salary variability for rookies, so it likely won't take long once everything gets rolling. I'd fully anticipate the entire rookie class being signed by the end of May.

For now, put contract matters out of your mind. Use this as your open thread for day two of mini-camp, which starts this afternoon.
