News broke earlier today that the Falcons were working out former Giants tight end Bear Pascoe. He has officially signed.
The Falcons have signed veteran tight end Bear Pascoe. #RiseUp

This is a smart, relatively low impact signing. The Falcons were sorely lacking for tight end depth after letting Chase Coffman walk and seeing Tony Gonzalez retire, leaving them with only Levine Toilolo as a remotely palatable option in the passing game. While Pascoe won't be a huge boost there, he'll catch a handful of passes and provide stellar blocking for a team that could always use more of it.
The terms of the contract aren't available, but Pascoe will likely cost just a tick over the veteran minimum and gives the Falcons a quality veteran backup for Toilolo. If they draft a tight end that's ready to step in and contribute, Pascoe can be used sparingly as a blocker and still be useful. If they get a project, Pascoe's a fine backup, albeit one that isn't going to be one of Matt Ryan's favorite weapons in 2014.
Welcome to Atlanta, Bear Pascoe.
