Falcons To Visit With Montana Linebacker Jordan Tripp, Will Focus On LB In Draft

The Montana-to-Atlanta pipeline is still going strong.

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

We can add another name to the list of prospects the Falcons are visiting with ahead of the NFL Draft. This one could be the third Montana player drafted since Thomas Dimitroff sat down in the pleather general manager chair back in 2008, too:

I'm blocking out Tripp because he's a linebacker, first and foremost, and because the Falcons have gotten a useful starter and a multi-year useful reserve out of Montana in the past, in the forms of Kroy Biermann and Shann Schillinger. Tripp is expected to go quite late in this year's draft, but he's a good athlete, willing special teamer and the Falcons sorely need to add talent at the position. Don't be surprised to see him on Atlanta's roster in 2014.

As you can see from last week's list, the Falcons aren't being shy about shopping for linebackers, and that list doesn't even include Jack Tyler from Virginia Tech and Yawin Smallwood from Connecticut, who both have visits ahead with the Falcons. That's what happens when you could use an outside linebacker and potentially two inside linebackers who fit best in a 3-4 look.
