Robert McClain probably wasn't going anywhere, but it's nice to see confirmation that he'll be with Atlanta in 2014.
As part of the NFL Transactions listed from today, Falcons restricted free agent Robert McClain signed his one-year tender.

The Falcons got McClain for under $1.5 million, which is quite a deal for a player who will be called upon to play significant snaps in the Atlanta secondary. McClain followed up an impressive 2012 season with an up-and-down 2013, but he should once again be the third corner in 2014. I don't expect Javier Arenas to steal that role away from him unless he drastically improves.
If McClain pays exceptionally well in 2014, he's got a chance to cash in next offseason, so I'm hopeful we'll see a great year from him. If all goes well, the Falcons should have one of the better young cornerbacking corps in the league between Desmond Trufant, Robert Alford and McClain.
