The Atlanta Falcons are attempting to add a thousand defensive linemen before the 2014 season starts. The team re-signed defensive tackle Peria Jerry Wednesday, according to Adam Caplan.
Jerry's re-signing is honestly a shocking transaction, as no one believed he would be back in Atlanta going forward. The former first-round pick hasn't lived up to any expectations since entering the league in 2009. He suffered a serious knee injury at the beginning of his career, but even years removed from that rookie season, he's still struggling to make much of an impact.
The Falcons are collecting a platoon of linemen. Jerry joins Jonathan Babineaux, Corey Peters, Travian Robertson, Adam Replogle and Paul Soliai at defensive tackle. Where will he fit in? Who knows? He's simply fighting for a backup role.
His agent, Bus Cook, made the implication earlier this month that Jerry would be walking away from Atlanta without a contract. Jerry said he wanted to stay put, and apparently he got his wish.
We can assume he won't be costly at all. He better not be costly at all. How do you feel about Jerry's return?
