Sparing no expense, Falcons using better technology to aid in their 2014 turnaround

The Falcons are acutely aware of their need to improve in 2014. We all hope they're taking a "by any means necessary" approach to accomplishing that goal. And in my estimation, they're doing just that. Vaughn McClure has an interesting report about the Falcons taking their technology game up a notch or two.

The new software, SpartaTrac, will allow the Falcons to monitor player fatigue and injury risk as well as maximizing players' off-field preparation. According to information released by the team, the software, coupled with force plate testing, will allow the club to conduct in-depth player analysis and position specific comparisons to help the team build a database of individualized information to maximize player performance.

Cutting edge, eh? Of course, nothing will replace naked eye judgment calls about player readiness. But this kind of technology is the sort of thing the Falcons may need to implement to continue the franchise's growth. It's the kind of thing you'd expect to see in an article about the Falcons just before they compete in next year's Superbowl. That and Mike Smith's uncanny affinity for wheat grass. Maybe.
