Julio Jones, Devin Hester Make Pro Bowl For Falcons

The Pro Bowl may not mean much, but an honor's always nice.

The NFL has announced Pro Bowl rosters, and two Falcons made the final cut. Congratulate Julio Jones and Devin Hester, if you would.

Julio Jones has 100 catches for 1,535 yards and six touchdowns, placing him among the best wide receivers in the NFL thus far in 2014. He's deserving of the honor, without question.

Devin Hester made it on special teams, where he's averaging 24.3 yards per kick return and 13.3 yards per punt return, with one touchdown to go with 34 catches for 472 yards and two touchdowns. Again, a worthy choice, though his reputation clearly drove his selection.

Naturally, there were snubs. Desmond Trufant is good enough to make the cut, Matt Bryant is easily one of the best kickers in the NFL and Matt Ryan is putting together a Pro Bowl-caliber season, though I understand why he didn't make it, considering the winners. Maybe next year.

Before you get too incensed about any of this, remember that the Pro Bowl winds up being a popularity contest most years. At least the Falcons got a couple of selections in a season where they don't have a winning season.
