Falcons Injury Report: Julio Jones Still Out Thursday

Julio Jones and Jonathan Asamoah were both held out of Thursday's practice.

There were some important changes on Thursday's injury report, but the one player who's on everybody's minds as Sunday approaches, Julio Jones, remained sidelined with the hip injury he suffered against the Packers. Jonathan Asamoah also was held out of Thursday's practice with a back injury. Asamoah has been a stabilizing factor on a line that has seen a lot of change this season due to injuries, so here's hoping he's healthy enough to go on Sunday.

Strong safety William Moore did return to practice in a limited capacity on Thursday, which was very encouraging. Roddy White and Harry Douglas were both upgraded to limited practice, also, after missing Wednesday's practice. Moore brings a different energy to a defense that desperately needs it, and it will be fundamentally important for White and Douglas to be at full speed in case Julio Jones isn't. Cornerback Josh Wilson, who suffered a hand injury against Pittsburgh, remained a full participant in practice on Thursday.

It's pretty safe to assume that, barring any crazy changes, everyone who was limited today will be good to go on Sunday, but we'll be watching the status of both Asamoah and Jones very closely. If Asamoah is unable to play (and a back injury for a guard is a pretty tough thing to play through), we can probably expect Gabe Carimi to suit up in his place. If Julio Jones can't play on Sunday, that's a big blow to a Falcons offense that floundered without him last week, but the offense has a plan in place in the event that Jones isn't healthy enough to take the field, and the other receivers will just have to step up in his absence.

The final injury report of the week will be released this afternoon, and we'll share those details when it's available.
