For this week's sponsored question with Marshall Faulk, we're talking contenders, hunters and spoilers, oh my:
If you've been here for any length of time, you know how I feel about the rest of the season. I'm hopeful the Falcons will pull off a miracle, I will root for that outcome with every fiber of my being, but I believe it's incredibly unlikely. Thus, I wouldn't consider the Falcons to be contenders, or even hunters. Just big-time spoilers.
Why big-time? Despite their poor play and very real challenges with defense and offense at the moment, the Falcons do have one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL, a quality passing game and a defense that is slowly but surely improving. That's the kind of team that can beat most NFL teams on a good day, and thus the Falcons have a chance to hand costly losses to teams like the Cardinals, Packers and (oh boy, oh please) the Panthers and Saints. Barring a miracle, we're going to be looking for progress, and beating a few good teams on the way to the finish line would certainly quality.
What do you think?
