The Atlanta Falcons won a must-win game today against a reeling team with the best record in the NFC. These are the days of our lives.
But alas, there were a couple injuries. So let's break those down, shall we?
Stansly Maponga was injured with about 3 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. From my vantage point (read: watching from my couch), it looked like he may have jammed his shoulder diving for Drew Stanton. It turns out it was his elbow and he was deemed questionable to return. From what I saw, it didn't look he returned, and that gave Cliff Matthews a few snaps. I'll say this: if there's a way to get injured, it's literally throwing yourself at the opposing quarterback. Let's hope Maponga is fine.
In a scary moment, Desmond Trufant went down with a neck injury. Interestingly he didn't have training staff tending to him for long, and he eventually returned to the game. I understand why he wanted to get back in the game so quickly, but I'm hoping there's no lasting effects. The Falcons, as you know, are already thin at cornerback, so they can ill-afford another injury in the secondary.
Discuss.
