Falcons vs. Browns Recap: Atlanta loses 26-24 to Cleveland on last-second field goal

The Atlanta Falcons had their return to the Georgia Dome spoiled by the Cleveland Browns.

It won't be three in a row for the Dirty Birds.

The Atlanta Falcons fell to 0-7 against teams outside the NFC South after losing 26-24 to the Cleveland Browns on a last-second 37-yard field goal.

The Falcons had a 24-23 lead with 44 seconds remaining in the game after Matt Bryant connected on a 53-yard field goal. But the Browns still had all three of their timeouts and plenty of time to orchestrate a game-winning drive.

The sequence that left Cleveland that much time with all three timeouts was reminiscent of the debacle versus the Detroit Lions with the egregious mismanagement of the clock.

Atlanta used a timeout after a second down play. Then, on 3rd and 2, Matt Ryan attempted a deep shot to Devin Hester that fell incomplete, stopping the clock once again.

Missed tackles that plagued the Falcons all game showed up on the Browns' final drive, and Brian Hoyer was able to lead the Cleveland offense into Billy Cundiff's field goal range with ease.

Atlanta has a tough remaining schedule, and things don't get any easier as they host the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday.
