UPDATE: Mike Smith said in his presser that Alford will miss somewhere between two and four weeks with the broken wrist. Let's hope it's on the earlier side.
Falcons starting corner Robert Alford broke his wrist on Sunday, leaving his status going forward more than a bit uncertain.
Ian Rapoport has the details:
#Falcons CB Robert Alford suffered a broken wrist in Sunday’s win over the #Panthers, source says. Brutal reality for promising player

Alford has been up and down, with the young corner making fantastic interceptions right after getting burned for touchdowns. He was a work in progress but obviously a huge loss for the Falcons secondary that is still missing strong safety William Moore.
Robert McClain is the likely replacement for the former 2nd round selection, and that does not seem like an upgrade. However, McClain has graded out as a better corner on Pro Football Focus, with Alford Atlanta's worst corner by a sizable distance. Desmond Trufant is their 6th best ranked cornerback.
I would not be surprised to see the Falcons pick up a free agent defensive back by tomorrow, or possibly the return of Ricardo Allen.
