One Falcon To Watch vs. Panthers: Osi Umenyiora

Perhaps it's a fluke, but the Falcons' designated pass rusher seems likely to continue his improvement.

Cliff McBride

Osi Umenyiora has averaged between 20-40 snaps per game this season, which is not a majority. He has only 2.5 sacks on the season thus far, which puts him in good company with the rest of the Falcons' pass rush, which has shown up only sporadically.

For all that, Osi is coming off a big game where he amassed three tackles, 1.5 sacks and a pass deflection against a mightily struggling Buccaneers team. In Carolina, he gets a team reeling from a terrible Monday night loss, and a team that might just have a weaker offensive line than the Bucs. Given that Osi is being utilized as a pass rusher on the majority of the snaps he is in the game, that's a recipe for another sack or two and pressure aplenty.

Kroy Biermann may be able to build on last week's momentum, as well, and Jonathan Massaquoi may well be healthy enough to contribute in a big way today. I just have a feeling that Osi will have the best luck, and that he might be entering a bit of a hot streak that will see him contribute at a higher level the rest of the way. The team could sorely use that, of course.

So keep an eye on Osi. Who will you be watching?
