Falcons vs. Panthers Week 11 Open Thread & Game Breakdown

What lies ahead for the Atlanta Falcons, who challenge the Carolina Panthers on the road in one hour.

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

To have a shot at the NFC South crown and a playoff berth, the Falcons have to treat every game from here on out as a must-win contest. For those who are skeptical about that outcome and want the best possible draft pick, well, it is the Panthers.

To win this one, the Falcons must take advantage of a lousy Carolina offensive line and middling receiving corps, slowing down the dangerous Cam Newton while hopefully revving up the offense. Failure to slow down Newton probably means a long day, and we've seen enough of those thus far in 2014.

It's worth noting that a win here and a Saints loss will result in Atlanta taking first place in the NFC South, however temporarily, which would be sort of a priceless moment, if nothing else. Especially at 4-6.
