SB Nation puts out NFL power rankings every week. It's no easy task, especially this early in any season. Plus years like the one we're having make it even harder. There's just an enormous amount of parity in the NFL this year. The cream will eventually rise to the top, but right now, the playoff picture is hardly clear.
The Falcons fell four spots to 23rd, down from 19th last week. There are several 2 win teams ranked ahead of us, including the Saints and this week's opponent, the Bears. At the top of the rankings are the Seahawks, Broncos, and Chargers. At the bottom of the rankings are the Titans, Raiders, and Jaguars.
Looking at the current rankings, it's not hard to imagine the Falcons sitting right in the middle of the pack for the rest of the year. That's not an enviable position, because you're only periodically competitive, just good enough to miss out of a top ten draft pick.
