In a somewhat unexpected, but not shocking, move, the Falcons have announced that they have cut wide receiver Courtney Roby. Roby, a veteran who has been in the league since 2005, has 26 career receptions for a total of 343 yards and one career touchdown. Roby had one reception for 11 yards this season with the Falcons. Roby's primary function in Atlanta was as a special teams player.
To fill Roby's roster spot, the Falcons have signed wide receiver Freddie Martino to the active roster. Martino is a promising young undrafted free agent out of North Greenville (SC) State University. You'll remember Martino for a spectacular catch against the Jacksonville Jaguars in week four of the 2014 preseason.
Drew Davis is eligible to return after week six, so there may be more changes to the wide receivers on the roster forthcoming.
We wish Roby well and welcome Martino to the active roster. What do you think about these roster moves?
