With Peter Konz staring down a "bad" injury, James Stone will start at center against the Lions

Fact: Peter Konz doesn't flip his pancakes

Rob Carr
Not much of an injury update for y'all tonight. All I have is some decidedly bad news: it looks like Peter Konz may be done for the year.

Just when it seemed like this season couldn't get any worse, it just did. And like it or not, rookie undrafted free agent James Stone will start at center against the Lions. If Vaughn McClure's source knows what he's talking about, Stone will likely assume responsibility for Matt Ryan's well-being for the remainder of the season.

Initial word on Pete Konz is that the injury is ``bad'' according to a source. @caplannfl reported MRI coming. A lot of you won't be too phased by this. It isn't like Konz is an ideal choice at center. Heck, many had given up on him entirely already. But that said, you can't undervalue game experience. Konz has that, while Stone doesn't. Maybe Stone is a diamond in the rough begging to be discovered. If that's true, then great. He will have plenty of game experience to show us that's true. But if he isn't, I'm seriously concerned for Ryan's ability to stay upright.
