The Giants are a tough team to figure out. They were abysmal in the first week of the season and mediocre in the second, but they've strung together two strong performances in a row. I don't know if they're rounding into form or not, but it's certainly not the best time for the Falcons to have to head into their house.
That said, this is far from an elite defense, which means there are plenty of Falcons who could have nice fantasy days.
Start
QB Matt Ryan: Ryan has tossed five interceptions on the road, so you might be wary about playing him against the Giants. You should keep in mind that the Giants' defense is not as good as the Vikings', however, and that Ryan still managed almost 300 yards and tossed three touchdowns against Minnesota. Start him as a QB1 with confidence.
RB Steven Jackson: Jackson is an RB3/Flex most weeks now, because the scoring just hasn't been there. He's usually good for between 50 and 70 yards and a catch or two, so he's worth playing if your running back depth chart thins out quickly. I do anticipate the scoring chances will start coming, and keep in mind he almost had a touchdown against the Vikings.
RB Antone Smith: In scoring only formats, you can do much worse as a flex. He's got the potential to put up as many yards as Jackson on a single play, so at this point you should at least explore having him in your lineup. A true boom or bust player.
WR Julio Jones: Duh.
WR Roddy White: Roddy's not putting up his characteristic numbers, but as a WR3 who can get you a handful of receptions, quality yardage and a pretty decent chance of scoring, he's worth having out there.
WR Devin Hester: A WR4/5 option for you. Hester can score from anywhere on the field, if your league counts special teams contributions, and he's been putting up quality yardage. Against the Giants defense, he's likely to have a pretty decent day.
Sit
RBs Jacquizz Rodgers/Devonta Freeman: You can't rely on either getting enough touches or being productive enough with those touches right now. They're firmly off the fantasy radar.
WR Harry Douglas: Health has been a question mark, and HD has never been a quality fantasy receiver. Sit him and don't look back, even if he's going to play this week.
TE Levine Toilolo: If he's not scoring touchdowns, and he's not, Toilolo is no bueno for fantasy. Don't play him against New York.
Falcons Defense: The Giants have a clearly superior offense to the Vikings, who just eviscerated the defense. Don't just sit them if you have them, cut them outright in favor of a better defense.
Your fantasy thoughts for the week?
